iGCSE ESOL
Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language is designed for students who are not native speakers, but who need English to improve their educational or career prospects as well as those who wish to further expand their knowledge of the language.
A pass at grade C or above is recognised by almost all UK universities as evidence of English proficiency for undergraduate study and as such makes it a perfect stepping stone to university or higher level study. Local universities and Stockton Riverside College's Access courses accept this qualification in place of IELTS.
The course develops the students' ability to use English effectively in a variety of contexts. It builds the key communication skills of writing, reading, listening and speaking providing a sound base for further study or for employment in an English speaking environment.
The Cambridge IGCSE is one of the most widely recognised and respected qualifications around the world. It is comparable with the UK GCSE and GCE O Level.
